Thank you for joining us on May 22nd to celebrate 3 years of 24/7, 365 broadcasting to Bournemouth, Poole and surrounding areas and streaming around the world.Hope FM marked its third birthday with spectacular celebrations in Bournemouth Square. The birthday celebrations, on Saturday 22nd May, were also marking Bournemouth’s bicentenary with a live broadcast throughout the day and entertainment from a stage. The festivities kicked off at 11am when Mayor of Bournemouth Cllr Beryl Baxter officially opened the event and cut a birthday cake watched by a large crowd. Performances started with Scottish pipers and Scottish dancing in the square followed by community artists including the Bournemouth Community Gospel Choir, Djembe African drummers & Zubida Dancers. The events co-sponsors The Village Hotel, provided a fitness & aerobic display team whilst local talents Glow Globes, Pure Funk Dance Company, Cafe con Pan Cuban music group and BOSH - the Christian rock band also took to the stage during the day. Kevin Potter, Hope FM station manager, said that community radio stations perform an essential role in the community. He said: “It’s been a very successful celebration and the square has been full of people. This proves that we aspire to integrate with the community and give a voice to the people.” Pictures to follow here on our Media pages in the Hope FM Gallery Thank you to the following who contributed to the event:
