Sandyholme Retreat & Activity Centre

The Sandyholme Retreat & Activity Centre is a peaceful and beautiful place to stay in the delightful village of Studland in the Isle of Purbeck, Dorset.

Sandyholme is set in lovely grounds with nearby sandy beaches, cliff top walks along the Jurassic Coast and much more.

With up to 32 beds, four kitchens, four bathrooms/shower rooms, and three lounges, this makes an ideal centre for self catered retreats or group holidays. It can also be easily divided up into smaller units for that much needed small group or family break.

The property

Sandyholme was taken over by Bournemouth YMCA in 2006 and was refurbished and refitted  ready for the latter half of the 2006 letting season. It is a substantial character house standing in its own grounds, situated in the village of Studland in the delightful Isle of Purbeck. It is within easy walking distance of the church, village shop, pub, beach and cliff top walks. The house can be rented as a whole and is ideal for retreats, residentials and group or extended family holidays. It is equally ideal for more active groups as a base for outdoor activity breaks. It can also be divided up into four separate units for smaller groups or families. Each unit comes complete with its own kitchen facilities and duvets, duvet covers and pillows are provided.

The area

The Isle of Purbeck is a delightful part of Dorset with many miles of clifftop walks along the Jurassic Coast that has been designated a World Heritage Site. There is also much heathland, including a number of nature reserves and long walks along rolling Dorset hills. Local attractions include Old Harry Rocks, The Blue Pool, Lulworth Cove, Durdle Door, Corfe Castle, Fort Henry, The Swanage Steam Railway, picturesque villages such as Studland and Worth Matravers, historic towns such as Swanage and Wareham, and further afield the larger towns of Dorchester, Weymouth, Poole and Bournemouth. For the more active, there are outdoor activity centres nearby.

Activities

The area caters for all tastes with many varied activities to enjoy. These include walking, golf, horse riding at stables within walking distance, cycling with cycle hire also within walking distance, swimming and water sports, tennis, zorbing, hang gliding and much more. Or for the less active, miles of sandy beach to relax on in the sun.
